Future Buckeyes

I am originally from Twinsburg, Ohio which is a town 1/2 way between Cleveland and Akron. It was a great place to be a kid. One of the few bad things about growing up is that my sons will not have the same sports love as I do unless I train em up. The process is ongoing and funny.

Raleigh and Will both know the words to 'Across The Field' and 'Buckeye Battle Cry', the two main Ohio State Fight Songs. They also know to do the O-H-I-O whenever they hear the TBDBITL play "Hang On Sloopy". However, I didn't feel like it would ever stick until this morning.

This morning I was listening to the music for "Script Ohio" as I took Will up to Mom and Dad's. He starts cheering joyfully at the sound of the music and says "Daddy, Daddy that is the Buzz Light Year Song!!!!" The kid will be a citizen of the Buckeye nation just like his old man. If Buzz likes it, it has to be good.

Life is good.

Heard around town....

Today a teacher walked in the bathroom and caught Ral and another student sitting down......in the URINAL!!! I guess he was tired and needed a rest or something.
I told Will about our plans to go to the zoo and he said, "Oh yeah! I love ya, baby! That be super awesome!"
He just looked at me and said, "Lets get married." I asked him what you do when you get married. He told me, "Kiss". So...I gave him a kiss. He said we made married and now we needed to exhange hands. He held my hands and wanted to dance in a circle, but I wasn't going there again b/c we've "married" that way once. I have no clue where my son gets his concept of marriage. I guess its his Tenn. heritage that makes him think he can marry his mama!!
Today we got some bleach at the store and on the way out, one of the bottles fell out. I asked Ral to pick it up and then told him what it was....bleach. I asked him if he knew what it was and he said, "Oh yeah. Bleach. That's what goats do!"
Ummmmm....not quite honey...but I see how that makes sense.
This morning Ral made an annoucement that he was going to walk down our hall without turning on the hall light. He did just that...and we celebrated this monumental occasion.

Will is back to hating a shower. As soon as Mike mentions it, he begins to screaming and saying, "I dont want soap in my eyes. I dont want to close my eyes. NOOOOOOOOO I want to be dirty!!"

We went to Tweetsie on Saturday. Ral rode the tilt-a-whirl about 8 times. Will rode the merry go round 2 times. Both times, as soon as he got on there he said, "I want to ride on the couch, mama!"
Yep...we ride on a couch, not a bench :)

Star Wars

Thanks to Lego Star Wars on the X-Box, Raleigh loves Star Wars. He knows all the characters and the general idea of the story. He has watched one of the "new" movies but really enjoys the classic trilogy. Its pretty neat when my son and I can watch a movie that I did growing up and we both get a thrill.
I also LOVED Star Wars growing up. I had a box of action figures, the Death Star, lots of planes, etc. I kept many of these things as the years passed by. I always pictured saving these things to become "collectibles" and possibly make money off of them.
I gave the boys the planes last summer. They quickly broke b/c they were so old. Ral's love of Star Wars has really taken off the past few months. Last night I remembered the box of action figures. I finally found them in the attic and brought them down.
They were a hit...to say the least! My boys played for a few hours with them last night. This morning when Ral got up he went straight in the play room and got his box. He wanted to know if he could have them forever.
I told him "yes" and that maybe he would pass them on to his kids. (He told me he wasn't getting married to girls b/c they are gross.)

Its funny how things work out. I never imagined that my sons would be playing with the same Star Wars figures that I did. Watching them play takes me back to a fun time in my life as the memories flood in. Who knows....maybe in 20 or 30 years I'll be watching my Grandkids play with them?!

Happy Mother's Day!

A very Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. I am so blessed to have the mom that I do. She is beyond wonderful. The best thing she has done for me is to continually show me the love of Christ. The last 6 years have not been easy. She could have become bitter and showed me how to do the same. Instead, I've learned to praise the Lord in the storm.
Thank you, mama...for being such a wonderful example of a Godly woman.

I am also blessed by my mom-in-law, Lois. She gives so much of herself to so many people. She is one of the most mild mannered women I've ever met. She takes everything in stride. Thanks you for doing so much for our family, Lois! I am so very lucky to have you!

I love being a mama. Thank you Lord, for my 2 precious boys.

Doctor

Will has his toy doctor set out. He just told me, "Mama..you sick. I doctor clever." (That is suppose to be Dr. St. Clair). He came over and said, "Hmm...it looks like you're coughing. Lets check you out." He proceeded to listen to my lungs, my arm, my hand, and tried to listen to my stomach. When he was done he hung the stethascope up and said, "You soundin' all better!"

I wish all Doc. visits were that easy.

Will

Will is consuming his third plate of spaghetti right now. When I gave him the last serving, he said, "I was starved!"
This from the kid who usually doesn't eat.
Of course he had to point out every piece of meat and tell me, "Oh..that's yuck. Oh no. That's yuck."
Will has had an appetite lately..which is odd for him. Maybe he's learning to like food now.
Will's favorite thing is Speed Racer. He is constantly singing the song and role playing.
I'm ALWAYS Trixie. The conversation goes something like, "Mama, you be Trixie. Oh Hi Trixie. I Speed Racer. Sorry I'm late for the big race! I gotta go, Trixie! I driving the Mark 5!"
This is played out several hundred...or thousand...times a day. Anything he can ride is the "Mark 5" and he sings the song as he races.

Ral had a Thomas obsession. It looks like Speed Racer is Will's favorite.

Makoto's

Today we went to Makoto's Japanese Restaurant for lunch. Ral chose the location as a celebration of his baptism today. Ral loves the show...loves the fire...loves the food.

Will...not so much. The last time we were there, which was quite a while ago, he jumped into my arms when the fire started, cried, and went to sleep.
He was not amused today either. As soon as he got there he kept saying, "I don't want to see this silly stuff." He kept trying to get in my lap, telling me he needed me and that he didn't like fire.
When the fire started Ral was at the table screaming, "Oh yeah! Fire!! I love fire! More fire!!"
Will freaked, as usual, and tried to crawl into my body.
The good thing is that when the fire died down he DID eat a PB & J and potato chips. This is the first meal that Will has finished at a Restaurant in months.
