Shriners Update

The news from the Shriner's was mixed....thus the delay in updating.
Let me start by saying how happy I am and thankful to the Lord that we have the Shriner's Hospital. I have complete confidence in the doctor and his diagnosis.
The great news is that the curve in the top of Will's spine is still at zero degrees!! This makes 2 times that he had been at zero. I feel SO good about this.

The curve ball (all pun intended) that was thrown is that Will now has a curve in the bottom of his spine.
It was there last time too, but he thought it may be positional in how he stands. This still may be the case, but b/c the doc has seen a curve two times now in the same place...it causes concern. We have to go 2 times w/o any curves to be released. Tuesday did not count for one, of course.

The plan is to go back in 6 months, but I plan to make it 4 so that I can go in July during summer vacation.
Soooo....here we go again??!!

Sent to the office

Ral was sent to the office for the first time the other day.
He threw rocks and hit a kid during PE.
Mr. Trexler told me he would be calling him into his office. Apparently Ral took it pretty well and even referred to him as "Trex" during the conversation.
I guess he thinks they are close.

I spoke with the teacher and decided that his time out during PE would be better served in the ISS room in the office. He was in the gym he could entertain himself and everyone else. I stood in the office yesterday to see what his reaction would be. Ral...being Ral..tried to skip out of it. When I asked him if he was coming to the office he said, "No, I just want to go to PE."

NOT!

Nothing like having your mom at school to bust you and send you to ISS.
Tom put him in the room and closed the door. I knew he wouldn't like it..in fact...he cried.
He had another day of ISS today for his actions on Tuesday. I hope that the next time he thinks about throwing rocks he'll remember his time in the ISS room!

I want Mama to do it!!

Will says this about 532,895 times a day.
He wants Mama to do EVERYTHING!! When Mike gets him up in the morning, he immediately starts fussing at him and screaming that he wants Mama to get him dressed.
He wants Mama to put him in the highchair.
He wants Mama to take him out.
He wants Mama to read him a book.
He wants Mama to take him to the toilet.

While I appreciate the love, affection, and adoration...it sometimes gets on my nerves.

Ok, it frequently gets on my nerves.

I love you, Will....but Daddy loves you too and can do things for you.

Back to the Shriners

"Back" to the Shriners. Kina funny...isn't it?? :)
Will and I are driving to Greenville tonight. We have already been talking about it, what's going to happen, going to Red Robin, etc. etc. I'm feeling good about the appt. Probably less stress than I've ever had. If his spine can hold at zero for 4 months I'll feel even better.
I'll post the info tomorrow!

A Good Memory

Raleigh and Will spent a day over Christmas break playing outside. This is my favorite picture from that day.

That was the best supper ever!!

That is what Raleigh just told me.

And what did I make to earn such acclaim??

Frozen meatballs cooked in the oven with chili sauce/grape jelly.
(A recipe from Mike's mom -- when I told Ral this he said to me, "Don't you like my dad's mom?")
Boxed macaroni and cheese with cheese hot dogs cut up and thrown in.

Watch out Martha Stewart and Paula Deen. Laura's cooking in the kitchen!
Lucky for me that Mike and Ral are easy to please. If I make Hamburger Helper they sing my praises for the 5 star dinner.

Pictures

Today we went to a local place to have Easter pics made with live bunnies. When I told Will we were going to get pics made with Easter bunnies he lifted up his shirt and said, "On my back??"

Bless his heart. He thinks anytime we talk about taking pictures he thinks of having an x-ray (picture) of his back made b/c of his scoliosis.

My boys are SO different.
We walk in the room and Ral asks to touch the bunny before its even out of its cage. He puts his hand in and rubs it all over. Will puts his hand "close" to it and pulls it back in fear.

During the photo session Ral rubbed the bunny AND looked at the camera AND smiled. He even did some poses in between. He's a natural ham.

Will pet the bunny for a few moments, walked away, and had nothing else to do with the pictures or the bunnies. He was too interested in the dumb purple dancing bunny that the photographer had. The guy offered to take his pic with that bunny, but Will passed up that opportunity as well.

My boys are SO different. Thank you Lord...for each of them.

A walk around the block

Its been really nice here the last few days. Will and I took a walk around the block this evening.

He wanted to hold my hand the whole time..which was wonderful.
When he saw the birds he shouted, "Hi birds! They call me William Douglas Combs!"

We jumped over the cracks in the road.

When we came home, Will hugged me and said, "You're the best mama I never met..." *lol*

A walk around the block is good for the body AND the soul.

You made me mad

Will just came in the kitchen and announces, "Mama...you made me mad."
He is all about expressing his feeling lately. He says this quite often.
I asked him what I did to make him mad and he said, "You punched me."

At that point I wanted to. I told him that I didn't and that was a lie.

He returns to the kitchen a minute later and says, "Mama...you made me mad. You said da-do-da and you lied. You lied."

Oh, the joys of living with a 3 year old!

I tellin!

Will loves this phrase. Anytime you tell him no..or tell him any answer he doesn't like, he exclaims, "I tellin...." If you ask him who he is doing to tell he will name all sorts of people. "I tellin' Daddy and bru-der and mama and a lot of us."

When you ask him what happened, the answer is usually.."He punched me."

Yeah...
Where he gets that, I have no idea.
This morning he was upset with Daddy, as usual when he was trying to get him dressed. Will told Daddy that he was tellin' on him. I asked him what happened and he said, "Daddy punched me..."

Mike may punch him pretty soon just so that he isn't lying anymore! *lol*
