Now Raleigh is sick!

Raleigh is sick now. I think he has Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease as well. My wonderful inlaws have had him at their house since Saturday night. His throat is killing him and he's had a fever. I'll take him to the doctor today. Now I just hope that Mike and I don't get it too!

Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease

That is what my poor baby Will has.

It started on Wed. night with a fever of 101. It went up to 102 that night. I took him to the doctor yesterday figuring it was an ear infection. Nope.

Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease.

The hand and foot part aren't bad. Its just a rash.

The mouth part is the part that is so horrible. He has little blisters/ulcers in his mouth and throat. Thus, he screams and screams and won't eat because it hurts. He won't even nurse...which is FAVORITE thing to do in the whole world!

Last night Mike and I spent the night in the chair with him. I was with him till about 3:30. Mike stayed with him until time to get ready for school. He slept..not restfully, but he did sleep. He just didn't want to be put down. Bless his heart, he feels so bad!!

Oh, did I mention that while he has the horrible mouth problems he is FINALLY cutting his first tooth! Talk about adding insult in injury!

A great goodbye

This morning as Ral was running out the door with daddy I yelled, "Goodbye, I love you."
He yells back, "I love you too mama."
As he's almost out the door he says, "I love you very much!"

Now THAT is a great way to start the day.

Beans for Pa

Raleigh and I were shopping in Harris Teeter the other day. He was pushing around his little "shopper in training cart" and gosh was he cute! Sometimes he is not so cute...like when he rams my heels at full speed ahead and I have to fight not to yell out a cuss word.

Anyway, I stopped in the can food aisle looking for tomatoes. Ral notices the beans and says, "Ah, Pa like bean. I'll get Pa these" He proceeds to put some onion flavored baked beans in his cart. I quickly redirected him to the plain baked beans b/c I really don't think Pa likes funky baked beans. So he tells me thank you and puts the correct can in the cart.

As I'm walking off, he goes back for another can.

The rest of the shopping trip he kept telling people, "This just bean for Pa!"

He was so proud of his purchase and Pa really enjoyed the gift!

Ral also tried to make out with a Dragontales and Bernstein Bears DVD but I luckily got rid of them while he wasn't looking. He likes to add odd things to his cart. One time it was a ten dollar can of nuts. Another time it was a London Broil.

At least he tries to help!

Raleigh and sleep

Ral has issues sleeping.

Always has. Always will probably.

The other night he laid in his bed for about an hour till I noticed he wasn't asleep.

"Raleigh, why aren't you asleep yet?"

He looks at me and says very seriously, "Mom, I don't like to sleep."

Of course sleep sounded like "Fweep".

Ill miss his non S sounds for words when he finally can say it.

A change in medicine

Will has reflux. We've known this for month. He is on medicine for it.

Raleigh had reflux.

BOY did he ever have reflux. It was undiagnosed for 3 months. He was miserable those 3 months...and so were we.

I, of ALL people should have recognized the signs of reflux problems.

Instead, I just said he was having trouble sleeping because we were on vacation or because I had started back to work.

I could kick myself!!! :-)

I took him to the doc yesterday. We changed his medication. He is now on Zantac.

For the first time in 3 weeks Will slept all the way through the night last night.

And life is good.......

Have you seen my baby?

You know, the one that was such a good sleeper?

Ever since I went back to work my good sleeper has been anything BUT a good sleeper.

Up every night...several times a night.

Its miserable and I dont know what to do.

Yeah, Ive tried the cry it out thing. What a joke that is. What do you do when they scream for an hour and a half????

If anyone has seen my good sleeping baby...send him home please!

Where I work

Yesterday when I was getting ready to go to school I told Raleigh that I had to go back to work. He went through all of the why questions..which he LOVES to do lately. Why mama? But why mama? Why?

I told him I had to earn some money...blah, blah, blah.

I asked him if he remembered where I work. He looks up at me and says, "At Gene's!"

Gene's is the name of the produce man I go to often. I guess Im there more often than I realize:)

Enough!

Ral woke up at 4am telling us, "I took a good nap, daddy!" That is what he always says, whether he sleeps 30 minutes or 8 hours. Everything is a nap too. Nap is a nap. Nighttime is a nap. Its all a nap.
Luckily, Mike got Ral to go back to sleep. He got up for good about 7:45, closes his door, comes out into the living room and announces, "That enough, enough, enough of that nap!"

Guess he was ready to start his day!

Poop

Ral is doing well with potty training. He is in underwear all day every day EXCEPT nap times and nights. I'll deal with those two times when he is ready, since he wakes up with a soaking wet diaper then.

The last week or so he has regressed a little with pooping in the toilet so I have him on a positive reinforcement chart. If he poops 5 times he gets the troublesome trucks he has wanted.

The other night he was trying to poop and looks up at me and says, "I feeling it mama!"

So, I get excited, "Good, Good, Ral!!!"

He looks over at me and says, "You feel it too, mama?"

Ummmm..no, I don't feel your poop Raleigh. :-)

I need to tell you Humpin....

This morning while lying in bed Ral says, "I need to tell you humpin, mama." Of course, anytime he says this, its so funny. It will be good when he can say something, not humpin.

Anyways, he says, "I need to tell you humpin, mama. I love you."

Now THAT is a great way to start out the day!

I love you, Hun

Last night on the way home from ME's house Raleigh tells me, "I love you....hun."

He is a little parrot and love to repeat things that his daddy says. What a sweetheart!
