Very pretty

Ral has learned that things are pretty. Very pretty. In fact, almost everything is very pretty lately. He was telling Oobi about the hotel room the other night and wanted him to look at the wall. Very pretty wall. He showed him the chair too. Very pretty chair.

Im glad I have my son to see the beauty in everything!

Fee - burr

I was feeling Raleigh's forehead the other day because I thought he might be sick. As soon as I touched him he said "I have a fee-burr."

Of course he didn't. What a stinker! How did he learn that feeling your forehead means someone is trying to see if you have a fever?!

That too bad

That is Raleigh's newest saying. Its so cute the way he learns these things but has no clue the real context in which to say them. I told him that daddy was sick the other day. He used to say "feel better" a million times when someone was sick. Now its "that too bad." Of course he says this with no sympathy whatsover in his voice. I could tell him that Im going to the store and he'd say, "that too bad".

He also loves the word "Enjoy" and uses it at odd times too. I put his jacket on him the other day and he tells me "enjoy".

Too cute!

Friday Home Questions

These are from Karla's blog. Yeah, Yeah, I know. Im a day late! Im the mom of a 2 year old and Im 6 months pregnant so I think I get a break! :-)

How Many Pillows do you prefer? 1 Under my head, 1 to hold onto, and 1 between my knees.
Mattress-Firm or Soft? The softer the better for me, but my husband prefers firm, so I have lots of mattress toppers to help me.
How many blankets are on your bed? 1 or 2
How many nightlights are in your home? 1 Just a blue one in Ral's room.
Do you wear socks to bed? Yes, if Raleigh hasn't pulled them off of me yet.

Clipping Toenails

Raleigh has always hated to have his fingernails cut.

And his toenails??? Forget it!!!! I can remember putting my body into strange/unusual/painful positions to cut his toenails while he slept when he was younger. I always had to wait until he was asleep to work on his fingernails as well.

Lately, however, its a different story. My baby boy is growing up. He usually lets me cut in fingernails now. Granted I have to get him interested in what's on TV or bribe him with marshmallows, but the job is much much easier now than before.

Raleigh has horrible toenails. He must have gotten the nasty toenail gene from his daddy. They are brittle, scarce, and tend to be concave on his toe instead of convex. Very odd.

He has been getting some hangnails lately and he is OBSESSED with his toenails and me cutting them! At least twice a week he feels his toes all over while he is watching TV. When he feels something not quite right he tells me, "Got hangnail. Clip. Please please please!"

So, we've gone from not wanting mom anywhere near his toes to begging mom to cut his toenails.

Kids are so funny!!

So funny....

Raleigh is so cute and funny. His newest thing is sitting on the couch or chair, leaning back, putting his hands on his belly and telling me, "Have to Be-lax, mom." Okay, relax all ya want buddy!
He also wants to help all the time. If I talk about doing something he says excitedly, "I help, I help!" If I could only harness that energy and desire to help for a few years down the road!

He had his flu shot on Saturday. Those needles are so big and long! Im suprised they don't come out the other end. I told him he would be getting a shot and that he was going to be a brave boy. He watched the whole thing, stuck his bottom lip out and teared up. I told him he was brave. He immediatley rubbed his leg and said, "That feel better!" He never shed a tear. What a big boy I have!
