Good News

Will's back is improving. The curve was 31 degrees three months ago is decreased to 23 degrees.

We are very happy.

The curve could return, we could still at some point have to go to Erie PA. to get Will casted but for now it is a little better.

I praise God for His mercy and kindness to my family and to my little boy.

We will return to Winston in June to have Will checked again. I trust in God's faithfulness and give thanks for His love to us.

Banana and water

Last Monday Raleigh came home in a bad mood. When he got out of his ME's car, he looked at me and informed me that he only like his ME's house, he didnt like our house, and he wasn't staying here.

Yeah. Good afternoon to you too Raleigh!

He played on his bike with his ME for a while, came in, and proceeded to pitch a royal fit.

He didn't like it here. Didn't want to stay here, and only loved his ME.

After ME left he proceeded with his fit for about another hour.

Finally, after having enough, I gave him a banana and water for supper and sent him to bed. He wanted spaghetti for supper, but I explained to him that I didnt cook for people that didnt love me.

I think this had a big impact on him.

Now, anytime he doesn't take a nap, he thinks all he is getting for supper is a banana and water.
When we came home the other day I was taking things out of the freezer for dinner. When he asked me what I was doing, I told him. His response....?? "Do Raleigh get a banana and water?"

How pitiful is that?!

I've explained to him that he only gets a banana and water when he acts ugly to mama.

Poor kid!

Will's scoliosis appt. is tomorrow

We go to Winston tomorrow for Will's 3 month appointment for his scoliosis. They will do an X-Ray, decide whether the curvature is worse or not, and then decide what to do next.

If it is worse...do we wait 3 more months or do we act now and cast him?

If it is the same or better..I assume we will be back to the 3 month wait for more x-rays.

In looking at his back, most of the time I do think that it is better.

We will know in less than 24 hours and I'll update then.

The age of destruction

Will has reached the age of destruction.

Anyone with kids knows what I'm talking about.

He is at the age where he can walk into a room and totally destroy it.

Not being mean. Not being devious.

Just being 13 months old.

Wherever he goes, he has to drag things off of shelves or tables. If there is a button (i.e. the TV or phone or remote) he has to push it. If there is something that can click, he must click it. If there is something that can be removed, he must remove it.

I can pick things up around the house and within a matter of minutes, tornado Will has struck again.

Chaos, I tell ya.
Pure Chaos.

Life is Good.

I am a blessed man, even though I don't think I deserve it.

I came home today and Will met me at the door talking up a storm. Even though none of it was in English, it made me feel great. Raleigh told me right off the bat that he didn't take a nap. This means that we wouldn't be able to go outside. He then proceeded to give me a wonderful "RALEIGH" hug, which completed my day.

My wife Laura made a wonderful supper. The evening is quiet. Family is here.

Life is good.

Little Engine that Could

I rented "The Little Engine that Could" from the Public Library yesterday. I figured Ral would like it because it has trains in it.

Oh my..he LOVES it!!

We watched it 5 times in a row this morning.

Yep. 5 times in a row.

We are currently watching it for the second time since dinner.

The good thing? Its pretty short and teaches a good moral. But heck, after watching it so much it does get old!

Things Will CAN do

So, Will isnt talking much and can't identify things....

But there are some things he can do.

He can wave bye bye and say the word bye.

He can clap.

When you talk deep and tell him to get the monster voice, he does it.

He is walking up a storm and beginning to climb on things like Raleigh's train table.

He can play peek a boo.

In the Sweet By and By.

Driving to Church on Sunday we were listening to a new bluegrass album. The song 'In the Sweet By and By' came on and I began to quietly sing the chorus.

Before I knew it Laura was singing the chorus with me.

On the next chorus Raleigh began to sing with us. It was absolutely adorable. This morning when we got to Me's house he sang it for her and it was even cuter.

I'm glad he finally knows a hymm. It was so cool to watch him sing.

Will

Will is 13 months now and walking everywhere! Quite quick at that!

He is also talking up a storm!!

There is only one problem...

His language is not English.

I have no idea which language my son is speaking, but I know it isnt English.

He has mimicked a few words like "Uh-Oh" but that is it.

He knows nothing.

Has no clue what a ball is. Does not know what his nose is. Does not know where my nose is. Can not "do" anything you ask him to.

To Top it off...he is going through a VERY fussy time right now. So much that Im ready to take him to the doctor.

The good parts of Will??? Even though he doesnt know a thing..he is a sweet, precious, gift from God!

We go back to Winston for more X-Rays on March 27.

Surgery for Raleigh

Ral is going to have surgery the Thursday before Easter. He has had sinus problems for a long time now. Every night I get the "booger catcher" and my flashlight and get all the nastiness out of his nose. In the fall, the poor kid was on an antibiotic forever it seemed. At one point we did the 20 days straight game of antibiotics.

So, I took him to my Ear, Nose, and Throat Doctor and figured he would recommend allergy testing and shots.

He WILL have that done while he is in surgery.

Ral needs to have his adenoids removed. Apparently when they are swollen, the sinuses don't drain and you get the nasty stuff that he has in his nose. So, we'll take the adenoids out and hopefully that will take care of the problems.

Pray for us!

Raleigh and sleep

Anyone that knows Ral knows that he has always had sleep issues/problems. He has turned into a good sleeper the last few months.

Until the last few days.

He has been having trouble going to sleep at night. Sometimes he plays, sometimes he gets out of bed, sometimes he just lays down in his "fort" and can't sleep.

The last few days we have been battling no naps. When I asked him yesterday why he didn't take a nap, he told me, "My head just told me not to do it."

Ral still needs a nap. REALLY needs a nap. When Raleigh has no nap its like Satan invades his body and turns him into a really ugly creature.

When he doesnt take a nap he gets no fun at home. No computer. No TV. No outside time. No bikes. No nothing.

I was going through this list of No's with Ral this morning and says, "Mom, you are funny."

Not the response I expected.
I asked him what was funny about that. He said, "Mom you are funny going blah, blah, blah, blah."

so...that is what he heard when I was rambling off what he would lose.

He hugs me and says, "Mom, that is so funny I just can't believe it!"

Knowing that this is what his life is like at home when he doesnt take a nap, his ME reminded him that he would not have a good night at home. He told her that he DID have a good night the previous night. He said he watched TV, played Thomas on the computer, etc. etc.

The night he is referring to he spent 30 minutes in his room screaming and pitching a fit until he threw up all over the bed.

I guess his idea of a good night and my idea of a good night are 2 different things!
