Do you hear me?

Friday night I had Ral laying on the bed doing something when he knocked off a box on his nightstand that contained a zillion little cards.

I was not happy and told him that when I finished, he was going to get down on the floor and pick up every single one of those cards. I ended the discussion with saying, "Do you hear me?"

I guess that's not the right thing to ask a 3 year old.

He looks right at me and says, "No, I don't hear you mom."

Believe it or not, I didn't slap his face into next week for it!

In fact, I found it almost humorous. I guess the Lord was looking out for Ral that night.

He continued to look at me and say, "I don't hear you mom...."

Once I conveyed the message that he WOULD hear my hand on his butt, he got over his foolishness.

Oh my...what do I have to look forward to when he is a teenager?

Ice cream

Ral's ME came over Friday night to pick up some things. She sat down with Raleigh on the couch and watched The Grinch for a while. When it was time for her to leave Ral did his typical, "Don't leave yet, ME" routine which involves showing her things, whining, lying on her lap, etc.

She told him that she had to go home because she had gone to the store and bought ice cream that she needed to put in the freezer.

His response? "Better get going!"

A year ago we found out Will was a boy

We found out on a Monday Dec 12 2005 that Will was a boy and decided on his name. I made all the necessary calls to tell everyone.

I called my daddy to let him know that William Douglas would carry his middle name.

I left a message for him. I knew he would be thrilled.

I never called him back.

He died on the 15th.

What a tough week this is going to be.
Looking back on it, the 12th was a turning point. It seemed like "the last good day" for so long. Mike and I were so excited about another boy. Excited that we knew. Looking forward to the future.

From Dec. 15th-Feb. 7th there was little to be happy about.
What a blessing and what wonderful timing the Lord has that on Feb. 8th we were able to rejoice again.

"S" Problems

Ral still can't say the "S" sound.

When we go to Hunday Cool and Hit in our Heat (Go to Sunday School and sit in our seat), its not a problem.
Many people don't understand him...but its not a problem.

When he wants to ride his horse, however....

its a problem!!!

Ral can't say the "S" sound. YOU figure out what it sounds like when he comes to me and says, "I want to ride my horse, mom."

Will

Will is doing great! He will be 10 months old tomorrow.Amazing how fast its gone.
He pulls up on everything he can get to. He is starting to cruise the furniture. I'm scared hel'll be walking soon!
In the past week, he has become much more vocal. He already has a fake laugh he uses when he hears others laugh. Now he will grunt and groan if you do the same back to him. He has lots to say...but no real words at all yet!

Will LOVES a bath. I give Ral and Will a bath together in the bathtub now and boy does he have fun! He usually crawls over Ral a few times, going the whole length of the tub to get to toys he wants. As soon as he gets in the splashing begins.

His sleep is better most nights, although he has been waking up at least once a night the last week. I think he is starting to get his 3rd tooth up top though, so maybe that is the reason.

He is still eating Stage 2 foods, yogurt, puffs, cheerios, etc. I sometimes will give him some table foods, but the chewing thing just isn't quite there yet.

We did not hear anything about the MRI. I didn't think we would. In this case, no news is good news. I am assuming his spine and brain are fine. We go back to the pediatric ortho on Jan. 2nd.

Will is doing great. He is such a happy baby and such a blessing to our lives.

Scared

Lately Raleigh is scared of things. My wonderfully outgoing child is pretending to be shy at times.
In Walmart on Tues. he was running around showing people his lollipop. I lost him for a few minutes. When he came running from the back of the store and I asked him where he had been, he replied, "I had to show my lollipop to all those people."
Yep...he wanted to show the whole store what he had.
No fear.
No shyness.

Where were we 30 minutes before this?
At the dentist office where I was threatening to call Santa Claus and tell him not to bring Raleigh a bike.
Ral was throwing a fit, saying that he was scared of the Dentist. He wanted me to hold him b/c he was scared, even though I was standing right beside him.
He did the same thing last week when we went to have pictures made.
My little ham decided to be "shy" and "scared".

I'm hoping this is just a phase.

Gifts for Christmas

Raleigh wants a purple bike for Christmas.

Yes, I typed correctly. A PURPLE bike.
I told him I didn't think Santa made purple bikes. He said, "He could just paint it at the North Pole."

So, when he saw Santa Claus last week, Santa explained that they usually make pink bikes for girls and blue bikes for boys.

Now he says he wants a red bike...which is fine b/c no way in heck is he getting a purple bike!

I asked Ral what he was getting Daddy for Christmas. He said, "A big daddy bike." He will be getting me, "A big red bike." As for Will, Raleigh said he will be getting, "A little Yellow bike."

I guess we will be a biking family!
