The family took a trip to Seaworld yesterday. Both Ral and Will recognize it from the street. We have an awesome view of the roller coaster from our hotel. Will keeps saying he wants to go to Sea Were-old. He says it with at least 3 or 4 syllables each time.
We had a nice time. It was hot to begin with, then it sprinkled and cooled things off. One of our first stops was to see the Shamu show. We got great seats (soaker advisory seats). Will was fine before the show started, but once things got under way he was glued to my lap, turned around facing me most of the time. Ral thought it was amazing and oooohed and aaaaaahhed quite a bit. They had some little hand signal thing they got the audience to do and then you shouted "Shamu-Shamu". I think this was the point that Will was actually shaking he was so scared. When I asked Ral about the simple hand signal later, he told me it was sign language. When I asked him how to do it, he proceeded to go into a 5 minute demonstration that included pretending to shoot a gun and making a silly face with your fingers shoved up your nose.
Ummmm...no, Raleigh, I don't think that was part of the Shamu jive, but I do appreciate your sense of humor! :)
After the Shamu shout for a while, the big whale finally came by our section and gave us a good splash.
Ral wasn't ready for it and drank some sea water, but in the end was ok with it.
Will just about crawled out of his skin he was so scared and mad. Luckily he did stay with me in my lap the rest of the time, although he kept talking about going up the stairs and leaving.
After the show, when we did leave, was Will's favorite part. He perked up, waved, and said oh so cutely, "Bye Shamu! Bye-bye Shamu!!"
You would have thought they were best friends or something. When we asked Will about it later he just kept saying, "get wet....get wet". We did catch him chanting the Shamu-Shamu mantra later and attempting the hand motions. As with most things, he absorbed more than we thought he did.
Mike and Ral are going back tonight so Ral can ride his first roller coaster. Poor Will just isn't big enough to do many things at all in regards to rides. Luckily, he doesn't know any better so it doesn't really bother him. I think it will be mama and Will pool time.
