Donuts
Saturday morning Ral got up (early, of course) and said to me, "Mama...don't you think those people who make the donuts should take a little rest? They need to get a good night's sleep."
I agreed with him while he continued on with the need of the donut makers to sleep better.
I then began to wonder where he got this idea from. I thought of the old Dunkin Donuts commercial with the old guy going on and on about having to make the donuts. We were watching PBS, so I knew it wasn't on.
When I asked him, he told me.."Remember when we were in Wilmington and we went to that donut store and you got that coffee that I didn't like.....etc. etc."
Yeah...we went to Dunkin Donuts while we were in Wilmington 2 months ago. Why he was thinking about the people who worked there and why they should sleep better, I have no clue....
The joys of a 5 year old memory!

Will went to the Dentist today
Will had a cavity and had to go into the Dentist today. After nothing to eat or drink after midnight, his appt. was at 9:40. He took the medicines well and after 20 min. or so, he was quite loopy.
The procedure didn't take that long. Luckily it was just a cavity, NOT a pulpectomy. We also had sealants put on his other molars.
He was NOT a happy camper for the next 2 hours. By the time I got home he was screaming, "I don't like you anymore mama!! I want the TV off...I want the TV on...No, mama..no paper! I leaving...." Blah, blah, and more blah
He was a nightmare. Mike reminded me that Ral was the same way after his sinus surgery. (Anyone remember Ral's screaming of "They think Im a piece of paper!" ??)
Note to self: My boys do NOT come off of anesthesia very well.
He finally calmed down, scarfed down some yogurt, and is now napping.

Raleigh is such a big boy!
Raleigh is really growing up. This weekend we had the Combs family reunion. He wanted to know who was getting married. I explained that no one was getting married and that at a family reunion you see family members that you didn't even know you had and you get to eat good food.
Ral was so excited. He then smelled his armpits and said he needed to take a shower so he could smell good. (He has a thing with smells lately...he smells his fingers constantly....)
During bath time Ral can pretty much bathe himself. He gets the bar of soap and cleans all over. I put shampoo on his head and he washed it himself AND rinsed it by putting his head in the water. He can dry himself off too!
At the store on Sunday he took great pride in being a good helper. He pushed Will in the cart, helped me put the groceries in the back, took the cart to the cart corral, and then helped me bring the groceries in.
He was so proud of himself....and I was one proud mama. He is growing up so fast. I love it when he takes pride in and wants to help. I constantly praise him and tell him how much Jesus likes it when he is a good helper too.
Thanks you Lord for my precious, precious sons. I hope to raise them to be great men of God.
Wissy Wissy Pider
Tonight on the way home Will kept singing
"Wissy Wissy Pider and it dried up all the rain...and a wissy wissy pider and it dried up all the rain....and a wissy wissy pider and it dried up all the rain..."
Nothing like a wissy spider, huh?

Raleigh just lost his first tooth!!!
When he went to the Dentist in July they told me that his bottom 2 teeth were loose.
I had no clue.
The one on the left has been getting more and more loose ever since.
I HATE loose teeth.
As a teacher, they always creeped me out. I can't stand it when a kid would come up to me and stick their tongue on their tooth and make it stick out. Something about it just gives me the heebee-jeebies.
Of course that means Ral has loved pushing that tooth out and making me watch.
Tonight he was eating one of the cookies he made at ME's house and started whining about it hurting. I thought my skin was going to crawl when he showed me the tooth...all twisted up in his mouth, hanging by a single thread. I attempted to take a pic, but my battery needed to be charged.
I convinced him to go to Daddy and Mike pulled it for him.
He bled for a little while, but after rinsing his mouth out he then "needed" to call everyone he could think of to tell them. He even wanted me to call ALL of his teachers and leave them a message.
His story started out that the tooth fairy was going to leave a quarter...then it changed to a dollar...and by the time he talked to Aunt Flossy it had grown to a million dollars.
My little boy is growing up.
I'll have pictures by tomorrow!

A sure sign we've seen CARS too many times,,
Ral was talking about a little boy named Ty this morning when we were walking to my room. Ty had given everyone pieces of paper and said they were invitations to his birthday party at school last night.
Ty's birthday was the beginning of August and the piece of paper was a human face drawn by an adult....
So I'm telling Ral that he needs to talk to his friend, there was not a party..blah blah..blah....
Ral says, "He just likes me for my body."
I just about die laughing and ask him again what he said. He now replies "He just likes me for my straight body."
I must have given him "the look" b/c he then responds.. "He just likes me for me.."

A little of this and that
We had a holiday from school today. Good thing. I'm sick and I think the boys are getting it too. I've heard its "just a virus" which means I could be miserable for a while.
Ral got all smilies last week and didn't have to move his name off of the bear!! WooHoo Raleigh! His reward was spending the night at his ME's house on Friday. I'm glad he got some one-on-one time with his ME. They have a very special bond.
We are reading every night with Ral and we have a homework packet to do each week. Its like torture. PURE torture trying to get him to do this. I think the older my own kids get the less and less homework I give in my own classroom. I'm down to assigning just one thing a night. Ral is not studious, has poor fine motor skills, and finds it hard to stay put for 2 minutes. Add this to a wild 2 1/2 year old brother and what you have is almost a nightmare movie in itself.
Ral is attempting to read books now. We are reading the little rectangle 6 page books from school. Its exciting for him to see himself as a reader.
Will is into everything and just as funny as his brother. When you ask him something and the answer is positive he always says, "oh yeah" which is just too adorable.
Will is a singer. He watches tons of nursery rhymes on YouTube at ME's house and likes to ramble songs. Tonight during dinner it was part of Hakuna Matata, Im a Little Teapot, Ring Around the Rosie, and Jesus Loves Me. I need to record him singing so I don't forget because he really is precious.
Will likes to talk about money too. He used to always talk about having "Fi-ty dollars" all the time. He just came up to me and told me he put forty dollars in the trash b/c it was yucky.
Little does he know that there is no way forty dollars can be yucky :)
