Merry Christmas

From all of the Combs family to all of you who read this blog, I want to wish each of you on behalf of my family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Remeber, Christmas is not about what you have under your tree, it is about the Jesus that you have in your heart.

Not going to church

Yesterday I was on the way to Boone to take Ral to the dentist. We had not been talking about the wreck at all when all of a sudden he says to me, "Mama, let's not go to church when its snowy or icey."

We were on the way to a Sunday School party last Sunday when we had our accident. It had been snowing for a while, but Mike was fine with it...he's from Cleveland. I was on the phone to call my Sunday School teacher and ask him if the roads were really ok when we had our accident. A truck coming up the hill was out of control and in our lane. Since no one was behind him, Mike went to the left to try to avoid him. He smacked us right where Ral sits. We then spun around a few times and ended up in the ditch on the same side of impact. 2 impacts. Lots of damage to the van. It still gives me chills to remember it.

2 years ago today...

My daddy died.
I miss him so much. So many thoughts are going through my head right now.

No time to post them though.

Today, on the anniversary of my daddy's death, I'm taking Raleigh to ride on the Polar Express.

I will spend the day with the only grandson my daddy knew riding a train. One of Raleigh's greatest loves and what my daddy made his living at for nearly 40 years. While I am riding the train tonight I will enjoy my son....and remember my daddy.

Remember when.....

Ral definitely has a memory of things now. Everyday on the way to school he will tell me, "Mom, remember when I was three and..."

Yep, every memory he has, according to him, is when he was 3.

It could have been last month, last week, when he was 2 years old, or heck, even yesterday...but according to him, "Do you remember when I was 3....."

It's neat the things he comes up with to remember. Not a lot of "big events"...just small ones.

"Remember when I was 3 and I drank that yucky juice and I spit it out?"
"Remember when I was at my ME's house on a summer day and it was hot outside and her made lemonade?"

Yep...its the little things that we should cherish.
